National Federation of Business Angels

INTRODUCTION

France Angels is the National Federation of Business Angels. It works to develop an economic, social, and legal environment favorable to Business Angels and acts to promote their role as guides and financers of young companies with high growth potential which create jobs.

To date, France Angels brings together 64 networks of Business Angels as well as Individual Business Angels.

France Angels is also involved in many international projects. Likewise, it is a founding member of Business Angels Europe (BAE) and has several foreign-based networks.

Establishment in 2001

HISTORY

1998

Business Angels were few, barely visible and lacking credibility in France. André Jaunay who was then in charge of corporate finance at the Ile-de-France Regional Council, created the first associative network of Business Angels INVESTESSOR in Suresnes.

2001

In 2001, André Jaunay created France Angels and met Claude Rameau, Vice-President of Insead, a long-standing Business Angel and founder of the Club Invest 77 network in Melun.

2002

In April 2002, Claude Rameau organized the first edition of the “School of Business Angels” in Melun. The deployment mechanics is launched. More than a hundred will follow in the coming years, leading to the creation of the vast majority of networks known today.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

It is composed of all its members:

  • 64 active members (networks of Business Angels)
  • 8 associate members

The General Assembly meets once a year to elect the members of the Executive Board, to approve the activity report and the financial statements, to validate any statutory changes and to give the Board of Directors discharge for its management duties.

EXECUTIVE BOARD

It is the strategic management body of France Angels. It is composed of 25 members elected for 2 years; it appoints the members of the Executive Committee.

Company founder in 1978 and graduate from Kedge Marseille. A career as an executive in 3 listed groups. BA investor since 2009 in 25 start-ups.

Co-President

Ecole Centrale Paris, Insead. Sanofi then Aventis. Head of startups in biotechnology. From 2011, Angels Santé in charge of International Relations.

Benjamin BREHIN

Delegate General

Graduate of ESCEM (ESC TOurs-Poitiers), Ex-Entrepreneur and Business Angel. After taking over as Director of Operations in 2011, he became the General Delegate of the Federation in 2015.

Sylvain GODARD

Deputy Delegate General

Graduate in International Trade, International Relations, Economic Intelligence and Public Affairs. Previously at the FDJ (French Lottery Operator)  in the International Relations Department.
