National Federation of Business Angels

INTRODUCTION

France Angels is the National Federation of Business Angels (operating as a non-profit association under the 1901 Act), representing nearly 5,500 business angels across 50 networks throughout France. Its mission is to promote business angels in France and represent them before public and private French and European institutions.

France Angels unites business angel networks and professionalizes their activities by fostering the exchange of best practices among the networks and with the Federation’s partners.

France Angels participates in and contributes to numerous international projects. It is a founding member of Business Angels Europe (BAE) and a member of the European Business Angel Network (EBAN).

Establishment in 2001

HISTORY

Business Angels were few, barely visible and lacking credibility in France. André Jaunay who was then in charge of corporate finance at the Ile-de-France Regional Council, created the first associative network of Business Angels INVESTESSOR in Suresnes.

In 2001, André Jaunay created France Angels and met Claude Rameau, Vice-President of Insead, a long-standing Business Angel and founder of the Club Invest 77 network in Melun.

In April 2002, Claude Rameau organized the first edition of the “School of Business Angels” in Melun. The deployment mechanics is launched. More than a hundred will follow in the coming years, leading to the creation of the vast majority of networks known today.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

It is composed of all its members:

  • 50 active members (networks of Business Angels)
  • 3 associate members

The General Assembly meets once a year to elect the members of the Executive Board, to approve the activity report and the financial statements, to validate any statutory changes and to give the Board of Directors discharge for its management duties.

EXECUTIVE BOARD

It is the strategic management body of France Angels. It is composed of 22 members elected for 2 years; it appoints the members of the Executive Committee.
